To compare with the PVC geomembrane HDPE geomembrane is more suitable to be the fluid barrier for use in construction of the water containment. HDPE formulation contains no plasticizer and the majority (96-97%) of the formulation is the HDPE resin. If a significant amount of plasticizer is lost, one of the most important advantages of PVC geomembranes, flexibility, will be reduced and the liner will become brittle. So in long term performance PVC will crack when the plasticizer is degraded.
